Rachel Hurley, a researcher at NIVA, presented the latest findings from the PAPILLONS project, which explores how microplastics affect soil ecosystems, including their impact on plants. The presentation also covered results from a large-scale monitoring study of microplastics and plastic-related chemicals in agricultural soils, identifying likely sources of contamination. Additionally, new insights were shared on the sustainable use of biodegradable mulch films in European farming. This presentation was part of a Friday webinar hosted by the Agricultural Plastics Forum, organized in collaboration with several Norwegian institutions.
